Our Purpose here at Highlands is to lead people to Jesus and membership in his family, teach them to worship the Lord and magnify his name, develop them to Christlike maturity, and equip them for ministry in the church, and a mission in the world.
The Great Commandment
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart...soul
and...mind.' This is the first and
greatest commandment. And the
second is like it: 'Love your
neighbor as yourself.' All the law
and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." - Matthew 22:37-40
The Great Commission
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19-20

Membership (Belong)You Were Formed for God’s Family
The basis for our church family is from Ephesians 2:19, which says, “You are a member of God’s very own family and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.” There are three keys found in this verse that we believe are the foundation for belonging to a church:
- The church is a family
- God expects each of us to be a member of a family
- A Christian without a church family is an orphan
Scripture is clear that every believer should be a part of the local
church. At Highlands, we want to give you an opportunity to be a part of
the amazing things He is doing. We offer CLASS 101: Discovering Highlands Fellowship: on a regular basis to help give you the basic foundational beliefs of
our church, explain what it means to belong to God’s family and give you
an opportunity to become a part of our church family. | Maturity (Grow)You were created to become like Christ
Growing in Christ is one of the most wonderful and challenging things
a Christian can do. One of Christ’s final commands was to tell his
followers to “…go and make disciples…” (Matthew 28:19).
Throughout scripture, we are encouraged to go beyond the basics – to
GROW in Christ. In other words, we are to develop spiritual
disciplines/habits as we become true disciples of Jesus. To help you
develop these habits and grow spiritually, we offer CLASS 201: Discovering My Spiritual Maturity: encourage participation in or hosting of a Small Group, Bible study,
prayer and tithing. We also regularly offer special events and/or
classes to assist in your spiritual growth. | Ministry (Serve)You were shaped for serving God
Ministry is the heart of the Christian life. We must follow Christ’s example of service. Matthew 20:28 says, “…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Because of this example set by Jesus, we encourage every member and
attender of Highlands to be involved in some sort of ministry.
Thankfully, function follows form in ministry. How God made each of us
determines what He intends for us to do. God has uniquely shaped each
individual for a specific ministry. Through CLASS 301: Discovering My Ministry and the various ministries available at Highlands, there is a way for you to become involved and be a part of what God has called you to do. | Missions (Serve)You were created for a mission
Just as God created you with a unique S.H.A.P.E. for serving within the church (as taught in CLASS 401 Discovering My Mission: God created you for a unique mission. God has been working since the
fall of Adam and Eve to bring people back to Him. He is working
everywhere. Your mission is to simply step up and share what Jesus has
done in your life to the people who God puts in your path. God will do
the rest.
As a Christian, sharing is not optional. We are commanded to do it
throughout scripture. We are to develop an awareness of what God is
doing in the people around us and get equipped with some simple tools to
share our stories of God’s work with them.
| Magnification (Worship)
You Were Planned for God’s Pleasure
We all worship something or someone. At its core, worship is a response. Scripture tells us to “worship the Lord with gladness…” (Psalm 100:2).
True worship should be a response to God for who He is, for what He has
done and for what He continues to do. At Highlands, we strive to create
an environment where people can encounter God and respond to Him. Our
worship services involves culturally-relevant music and casual
environments alongside a spirit of authenticity. You will leave
energized and refreshed by our practical messages and uplifting music.
